![]() ![]() The proverbial expression incites the critical mind to remain ever in search of the validity of claims, to attain a supposed reliable ground of justification for dismissing doubts about occurrence of events or happenings. For the implementation of these policy solutions, maximum support is needed from all stakeholders such as the governments and non-governmental organizations, health professionals, community leaders and the citizens at large. Among suggested policy measures include reduction of interest rates as low as the 2009 subprime crisis percentage point just to encourage investment and recovery in global activities, intensification of surveillance by local and international health organisations, outbreak readiness, biomedical counter-measures, massive education and enlightenment about the virus using all local dialects focused on the mode of transmission and preventive measure. COVID-19 has caused public health emergency and significant global economic shock which cuts across all sectors, resulting simultaneously into demand and supply shocks. This alarming rate of spread poses a challenge to leaders, economist, and policymakers in the world and have distrust global economic activities. The sudden outbreak of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has become a global pandemic as the number of deaths at about 3, 400 with more than 100,000 confirmed cases as of March 7, 2020, have suddenly upshot to 192,166 deaths and over 2.7 million cases as of April 24, 2020. It further recommends that theatre practitioners devise better ways of embracing the new media platforms and outlets to reach out to the larger audience on other pressing issues in the society. Therefore, considering the fact that the pandemic still subsists, this paper suggests that theatre should be deployed to reach out to a wider audience on the safety protocols to be observed. Theatre here, served as a vehicle for information dissemination, on the need to observe the laid down guidelines. ![]() Findings reveal that through the digital theatre, resulting from the intercourse between the Theatre and social media, the power of theatre was popularised, as the actors turned out to be indirect activists addressing the audience on the need to observe safety protocols. This was achieved through the intercourse between the theatre and social media. Using the medium theory, this paper analyses two drama skits created by the Nigerian popular Theatre Alliance, on the need to observe safety guidelines and also address some misconceptions surrounding the eradication of the virus. The "Nigerian factor", seen as an acquired value system and mindset which impedes the realization of certain pertinent goals in the society, is one which often manifests in the attitude and behaviour of Nigerians, to the extent that it has become the biggest challenge in the fight against the Corona virus pandemic. ![]()
